Season 17
Hello Davis Dance Family and Newcomers,
Season 17 is here, and we are excited to have you in the audience with a front-row seat to all the amazing things Davis Dance will be doing this performance season. We have a robust season, and you don’t want to miss one second of it.
Our gala, “Light Up the Night,” is not too far away. We kick off our season with this annual event. It’s our annual black-tie community connection event, raising funds for Davis Dance and Davis Dance Next Generation. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and sets the company up for a successful year of programming. It’s an exciting evening filled with wonderful dancing by the main company and Davis Dance Next Generation, our competitive silent auction, a VIP cocktail hour with our annual sunset champagne toast, fun games, live DJ, and tasty food to boot!
Our opening season concert series, “Transcendence,” will open at our home, the Elaine Wolf Theatre. It will feature two of my works and Davis Dance fan favorites, “Serenity" and Groove Theory", along with a new commission and world premeire by Robert Sher-Machherndl, Artistic Director of Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet, and another new commission and company premiere of “Scattered Thoughts” from emerging choreographer and former Davis Dance Artist Diego Gonzales. Our Share the Stage guest performers will be announced soon. Our "Share the Stage" guest company performing on the program will be new formed Avid Dance lead by Artistic Director Emily speed. The company will be hitting the road first to Grand Junction with Resident Choreographer Rachael Harding. Then embarking on a mini tour to Casper, Wyoming, presented by ARTCORE. During this tour, they will have two school shows, masterclasses, and a full evening concert.
The company will return to the Aurora community by performing at the Aurora Performing Arts Center in our second “Davis at the Fox” performance. It will again be a collaborative concert with Davis Dance, Davis Dance Next Generation, and Aurora Dance Arts students. Our annual “A Summer Night of Dance” in May of 2025 will be our end-of-the-season full concert performance weekend, featuring two works by me: “Tattered” in collaboration with poet Emily MacIntyre and a Davis Dance showstopper, “Continuous Momentum.” We will also showcase the Davis Dance commission of “The Kinder Gravity of Kindness,” a beautiful work by choreographer Rachel Oliver-Young, and the return of “Before Reality Sets In” by friend to Davis Dance and Co-Founder of Conflux Dance Theater, Miguel Perez. The Share the Stage guest artists for the first time will be The Thomas Dance Project, featuring works by Artistic Director and choreographer Kevin Gaël Thomas.
Our summer will be full of community engagements and performances, performances and fun. We’ll return to the Mile High Dance Festival and hit the road to Boulder to teach and perform at the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop.
